Membership
Generally, the legal writing director at a law school is eligible for membership. In addition, former legal writing directors are eligible unless they are presently teaching for and supervised by another legal writing director. If a law school employs full-time legal writing teachers, but does not have a legal writing director, the teachers may designate one or more of their number as members. The Board of Directors of ALWD may also select as members persons of stature in the field of legal writing who do not qualify under one of the other criteria.
If you are not sure whether you are eligible for membership, please download the Bylaws. Article IV addresses membership. Generally, membership is open to current legal writing directors, co-directors, associate directors, former directors not now teaching under the supervision of a director, and writing teachers in directorless programs. If you still have questions, please send an contact us.
