ALWD supports its members’ professional development as teachers, scholars, and leaders through both teaching and scholarship grants.
In January 2018, the ALWD Publications Committee began publishing a quarterly digest of legal writing scholarship. Each quarterly digest collects all works, both new and old, that were discussed on the listservs since the last digest published.
The ALWD Publications Committee periodically publishes reading lists collecting scholarship from other disciplines that can inform ALWD members’ teaching and leadership roles.
For more than two decades, ALWD has partnered with the Legal Writing Institute (“LWI”) to conduct an Annual Survey to gathering information about legal writing programs and faculty.
ALWD's Leadership and Development Committee has gathered resources to guide and support the LRW community during challenging times. The materials cover mental health and self-care; effective ally-ship; teaching; and faculty training in diversity and inclusion.
In Spring 2020, as many law schools were shifting to online teaching, ALWD created a new committee, the ALWD Online/Distance Learning Committee. The Committee develops materials to support online teaching efforts.
